The Three Tulips

‘The Three Tulips’ is a set of three dancers. The yellow one featured here invokes a warm summer glow with its Cadmium Yellow hue lavishing the ladies dress in a flamboyant gesture of movement and grace. The dress is the center piece to the painting which also mirrored in the Green Tulip painting (featured in the set of 3), the lady is facing away with her hands above her head in a flamenco style posture. The backing is simple in white with touches of yellow, gold and grey, all blended and creating a focal channel to the lady in dance suspended in time.

The blue one featured here invokes a cool mysterious sensation with its French Ultramarine blue hue lavishing the ladies dress in a flamboyant gesture of movement and grace. The blue dancer is the center piece to the set of the 3, as the contrasting element. The lady is facing toward the viewer, however shadowed by the shirt of the dress in a seamless blue rippling circle of colour. Her hands are above her head and she is poised in elegance. The backing is simple in a cool white with splashes and drips of blue and silver.
